Kinesiology Office Coordinator
The Department of Kinesiology in the College of Education at Michigan State University seeks a full-time Office Coordinator II to join its department office team in providing high level administrative support on key department functions. The selected candidate will serve as the primary academic course scheduler for the department, will serve as the primary coordinator for the Master’s in Athletic Training program, and will contribute to daily office operations in the Department of Kinesiology main office.
Academic Course Scheduler Responsibilities:
• Manages academic course scheduling and course revisions for the department.
• Gathers data and information from a variety of sources, compiles, analyzes, and prepares statistical data for generating reports as needed related to metric studies for the college or department.
• Utilizes university registrar database programs relating to course scheduling, student records, textbook assignment, and instructor support systems.
• Interprets university policies and administrative procedures and initiates necessary action.
Master’s in Athletic Training Program Coordinator Responsibilities:
• Evaluates GradPlans to ensure plans meet KIN and college requirements.
• Maintains accurate advisor information in GradInfo.
• Processes graduate student forms (advisor, committee, program plan, dissertation proposal, annual reviews, Registrar forms, etc.)

• Creates & maintains graduate student physical and electronic records.
• Coordinates affiliation agreements for Athletic Training experiential learning partnerships.
Office Operations Responsibilities:
• Contribute to daily office operations including processing student add/drops, distributing building keys and equipment, hiring student workers, maintaining email listservs, office scheduling, etc.
• Assists in the day-to-day management of college or department issues and ensures timely response to matters affecting the college or department.
• Lead worker over student employees.
Other duties as assigned that support the department, College, or University operations.
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical school or related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a professional office setting, performing secretarial and administrative tasks, including experience with scheduling meetings, data entry, payroll processing, office machines, email and internet usage or in performing tasks related to the area of employment; experience in word processing, spreadsheet, mail merge, database, calendaring, publishing, and/or presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate should have strong skills in communication, organization, problem solving, customer service, and relevant computer technology (i.e., Campus Solutions, Instructor Systems, Qualtrics, Excel, Outlook). This position will interface with a diverse audience including frequent communication with the Department Chair, department faculty and staff, academic advisors, the Registrar’s Office, and students. Prior experience in academic course scheduling, academic program coordination, and/or department office operations strongly preferred.
