| Position Summary |
A key member of the University Advancement team, the Major Gift Officer is a lead gift officer and will be uniquely positioned to focus on both major gift opportunities and annual giving to support the University’s various initiatives and priorities. A successful candidate will be able to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts as part of a comprehensive fundraising effort. Working closely with the Assistant Vice President of Development and other colleagues, this person will grow a pipeline of prospects and donors to advance the mission of the University. This team member will also maintain some component of their portfolio that is focused on supporters of La Salle athletics.

| Essential Duties |
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 120-150 major gift and annual giving prospects with the giving ability of $50,000 and above. Annual goals will be set each year.
- Responsible for an annual work plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts focused on the University’s fundraising priorities.
- Responsible for coordinating with the Assistant Vice President of Development for designing, planning, and implementing a major gift plan that strengthens La Salle University’s donor base.
- Complete 100 – 125 substantive visits per year; include a detailed call report in Salesforce for each prospect visit regarding donor’s/organization’s affinity and ability to give to the identified priorities.
- Develop, write, and submit major gift proposals.
- Assume stewardship responsibilities for assigned donors.

| Required Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- 3-5 years of demonstrated successful experience in relationship management (fundraising, alumni relations, sales, or other related field).
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with alumni, donors, university administrators, faculty, and leaders in private foundations.
- Strong written, verbal, research, customer service, project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to relate well to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Possess initiative, leadership, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, and a willingness to take risks.
- Poised and engaging with an intellectual depth, maturity, judgement, and professionalism to earn the confidence and trust of both colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Fundraising and solicitation experience, preferably in higher education.
- Master’s degree.
- Knowledge of Salesforce or other customer relations software.

| Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours |
- This position requires some local, regional, and potentially national travel to visit with prospective donors.
- Some events will require work hours outside of the typical business day and/or on weekends.
