Job Description

Sun Devil Athletics seek a projects assistant for Wrestling who, under general direction, provides professional level administrative support to the Wrestling Program, serving as project manager and assisting operations to enhance overall programming. Reports to the Head Wrestling Coach. Adheres to NCAA and Pac-12 rules and regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of the department, the university and the Arizona Board of Regents.

Essential Duties

• Serve as project manager for Wrestling program’s primary, annual fundraising event
• Obtain bids from vendors to provide event goods and services; ensure all invoices are paid
• Assist with creating an estimated event budget
• Coordinate and organize meetings and conference calls
• Send invitations to guests and staff
• Assist with coordinating event day activities
• Assist with creating an event itinerary with hosts and staff
• Collaborate with hosts to ensure a smooth event
• Assist the media relations in producing match/tournament previews, press releases and other promotional content; may write features on wrestling athletes
• Assist marketing with emails and enhancing social media presence
• Assist with the annual giving plan, collaborating with the Sun Devil Wrestling Board
• Assist with organizing, promoting and coordinating social events with fan interaction
• Perform other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with event coordination
• Experience with marketing
• Sports media relations experience, including social media coverage
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the sport of Wrestling
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
• Evidence of effective communication skills

Working Environment

• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
• Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
• Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
• Communicate to perform essential functions
• Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals
