Job Description
Assist with implementation and evaluation of SABG Grant to reduce alcohol use and related harm specific to students who compete in organized athletic teams (Sun Devil Athletics, Sport Clubs, and Intramural teams). Assists with program logistics, planning, implementation and evaluation of programs as outlined in the grant proposal. Involve coordinating logistics, planning of virtual and other student engagement activities, creation of supportive messaging, support ASU professional staff training needs to address underage, high-risk and RX misuse.
With direction from Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness and Sun Devil Athletics (SDA), this position will be responsible for the coordination of health promotion/prevention programs and services with a focus on alcohol and other drug prevention and overall student well-being using evidence informed/theory-based strategies. Note that providing education about alcohol and other drugs and planning alcohol free activities to increase access to non-drinking opportunities are included in the core responsibilities. Primarily housed at the Tempe location working within SDA. Requires travel to other Phoenix area campuses. Require some weekend and evening hours.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Work location is primarily at the Tempe campus; however, incumbent may be required to travel to off-campus events and other ASU campuses to perform work driving their own vehicle. This is a 20 hour per week position, and may include some nights and weekends, with flexible days and hours based on programming needs. This Internship program is a short term-position of a 12-month experience or less. An additional one-year extension may be offered contingent upon an annual review. Candidate is required to be enrolled in a Graduate Program during the duration of employment and continuation of employment will be based on enrollment in a Graduate Program.
Funding for this position will end on September 30, 2024.
