Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration or related field and four (4) years of related work experience with collegiate athletic program or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Maintain certification and membership with Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA). Valid driver's license must be insurable by University insurance carrier. Ability to lift, carry and load equipment/boxes up to 25 lbs.; pre-employment physical required. Ability to travel and work nights, weekends and holidays required. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulation.
Position Description:
The Manager, Athletic Equipment (Director of Equipment Operations) is responsible for the overall operations and management of the Athletics Equipment department. This position will manage the inventory systems for tracking all adidas equipment and apparel purchased by the Athletic Department and will require proficient knowledge of inventory management system(s) (e.g. ACS, Sportsoft, Helmet Tracker).
The Director of Equipment Operationswill be required to work a non-standard workweek, including nights, weekends, and holidays and travel with teams as needed for away games.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Equipment Department operations for the Athletic Department; develop, implement, and maintain overall inventory system and central receiving for the Equipment Department which services all sports and non-sports programs within the Athletic Department; ensuring accurate records are being kept of all equipment and apparel inventory maintained within various venues/facilities.
Serves as primary contact between adidas and the Athletic Department in regard to all equipment and onsite testing visits; working with adidas in the development of current and future equipment.
Manage the adidas contract allotment for all sports and non-sport promotional budgets.
Manage Equipment Department budget; make recommendations for equipment purchases; purchase equipment for the department as needed.
Supervise and manage Equipment Department staff including hiring, developing, and evaluating all direct reports.
Oversee day to day equipment operations for the football program.
Create and implement equipment department policy and procedure manual.
Create and implement student manager handbook with policies and procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous work related experience in an NCAA Division I athletic program.
Master’s Degree in Sports Administration or related field.
