Seeking an enthusiastic, professional, knowledgeable, goal-oriented, and motivating individual for the role of Dance Instructor. Instructor will work closely with the Director of Athletic Bands to choreograph different half-time routines, coordinate uniforms, and manage all aspects of rehearsals, performances and recruitment of the dance section of the marching band.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Job requires prior knowledge and experience in working with students on a dance team and/or cheer squad. Must attend band camp, all rehearsals, football games, basketball games, tournament games and other events planned throughout the year as needed by the Director. Experience in all dance genres (pom, competitive, spirit, lyrical, jazz etc.) is preferred. Must have experience with designing, choreography, and teaching routines that effectively complement and enhance the visual component of the marching band show. Will be expected to choreograph half time songs and stand tunes in the fall and court and stand tunes for spring. Choreography will need to be prepared in advance of any rehearsals. Video demonstrations required. Choreography for half time songs should be completed before band camp. Position requires physical activity in order to demonstrate choreography to students. The dance team is a section of the marching band and will function as every other section of the ensemble this includes but not limited to attire, rehearsals, travel. etc. Will be required to teach mini camps, band camp, 2 rehearsals a week, attend home games for both basketball and football and flexible with travel.
Required experience:
Applicant must have experience with designing, choreography, and teaching dance or cheer routines that effectively complement and enhance the visual component of a marching band show. Professional dance team, collegiate team or cheer squad experience required.
