| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

| Position Summary |
The Athletics Marketing Coordinator will support the marketing office in their efforts enhance the fan experience in effective and creative ways while generating revenue and advancing the Carolina Athletics brand. The marketing coordinator position will be primarily responsible for the development and execution of marketing plans for a combination of the following sport programs: Baseball, Field Hockey, Gymnastics, Women’s Lacrosse, Women’s Soccer, Softball, Volleyball and Wrestling aimed at increasing attendance as well as generating revenue via ticket, concessions, and merchandise sales at home contests. This position will work closely with Go Heels Productions, Tar Heel Sports Properties, event management, facilities, spirit groups, coaches, and sport administrators to coordinate an optimal in venue fan experience for Tar Heel fans.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
|
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Ability to construct and implement marketing plans; game day experience; on-field promotions experience. Written and oral communication skills, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop.

| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree; previous experience in collegiate sports marketing.
|
