Overview:

Carleton college, a highly selective liberal arts college, seeks to hire a Men and Women’s Assistant Track and Field Coach in the Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation (PEAR) Department to assist in all phases of a successful and competitive NCAA Division III program. We are particularly interested in candidates committed to teaching a diverse student body. This is a part-time position reporting to the Chair of PEAR / Athletics Director. Some evening and weekend hours are required.

Position Overview:

Responsible for any aspect of coaching track and field as assigned by the head coach and Director of Athletics.

The Men and Women's Assistant Track and Field coach is a part-time temporary position through the end of May 2024.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, prepares, and conducts safe and strategic individual and team training sessions and competitive strategies. Executes appropriate coaching decisions during practice and competition that ensure the welfare of the student athletes representing their program.

  • Teach skill progressions appropriate to the level and ability of the student-athletes.

  • Pole vault specific – ensure safe skills progression that puts the safety of the student-athlete of paramount importance.

  • Understand the support students who are balancing multiple responsibilities as student and athletes in a rigorous academic environment.

  • Teach the strategies of the sport generally and event specific as assigned by the head coach of the program.
