POSITION SUMMARY:
The Graduate Assistant for Men’s Basketball supports the head coach and coaching staff in all aspects of the basketball program while pursuing a graduate degree. The role combines athletic program responsibilities with academic advancement, offering hands-on experience in coaching, player development, program administration, and overall athletic department support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As assistant coach, assist in providing coaching leadership during practices and during games.
Recruiting and related responsibilities (i.e. phone calls, on and off campus athletic recruiting year-round).
Other duties might include but are not limited to the following: assist with team travel, field/court/match preparation, equipment care and inventory, alumni relations or other duties to be assigned by the Head Coach.
The Director of Athletics will serve as the supervisor for secondary activities that can be added to fill out a GA’s load assignment throughout the year.
Potential secondary responsibilities could be but are not limited to the following: facility duties assist with event management, intramural program supervision, and sports information assignments. These additional assignments are subject to qualifications and availability and will be determined by the Director of Athletics in consultation with respective Head Coaches.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Acceptance into Bluffton University’s graduate school program.
Skill/Abilities:
Strong organizational, interpersonal and computer skills are required.
Appropriate knowledge of basketball.
COMPENSATION :
Full tuition waiver with competitive stipend, room and board.
