POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for leading the Men’s Basketball program by recruiting and mentoring student-athletes, organizing
practices and travel, and promoting team events and activities to foster athletic growth and community
engagement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee all aspects of the Men’s Basketball Program, including equipment and uniform management,
travel arrangements, budgeting, maintaining letters of intent, NIAC Conference compliance, updating
statistics on the NIAC website, and media relations.
• Plan, conduct, and supervise all practice sessions and schedule games.
• Coordinate and lead fundraising activities for the Men’s Basketball Program.
• Submit updated player and team statistics to the NIAC Conference website through the season.
• Monitor student-athletes’ academic progress and coordinate mandatory study sessions with the
assistant coach (if applicable).
• Actively recruit prospective student-athletes for the program
• Supervise assistant coaches, assign duties and responsibilities as appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with NHSC and NIAC Conference policies and procedures.
• Maintain discipline and accountability among student-athletes.
• Transport athletes to and from scheduled away games as needed.
• And other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE: Must have knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and coaching techniques. Must have an
understanding of NIAC compliance regulations and eligibility requirements. Must have knowledge of
recruitment strategies and student-athlete development.
SKILLS: Must possess strong leadership and team management skills. Must have excellent communication
and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to plan, organize, and execute practices, games and travel
logistics.

ABILITIES: Must exhibit the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve athletic and academic
success. Have the ability to recruit, evaluate and develop talent. Must have the ability to maintain discipline
and foster a positive team culture.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma with at least (2) years of experience in coaching, recruiting
and mentoring student athletes.
Must have strong leadership, communication and organization skills. Must have knowledge of athletic rules
and compliance. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in physical education, Sports Management, or related field
(or equivalent experience). Experience coaching at the collegiate level or in competitive high school programs.
Demonstrate success in building winning programs and developing student-athletes academically and
athletically. Have a strong network for recruiting student-athletes. Experience in community outreach,
fundraising and event promotion.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
HOURS: Position requires flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and travel for games and
tournaments.
ENVIORNMENT: Work is primarily conducted in athletic facilities, gyms, offices, and off-site competition
locations; involves exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
