Job Summary

The Head Men's Golf Coach will lead the strategic planning and operational excellence of the University of West Georgia men's golf program and will be responsible for the overall successful development, planning, implementation, evaluation and execution of the men's golf program. The position is responsible for educating and fostering academic and athletic success while stressing the elements of sportsmanship and fair play. Facilitates the mission, policies and procedures of the University of West Georgia, the Atlantic Sun Conference and the NCAA.

Responsibilities

Develop, oversee, organize and direct a strategically competitive men's golf program at the conference, regional and national level. Responsible for the overall coaching, management and administration of the program to include evaluating, recruiting, organizing hosted tournaments and team travel, practice scheduling and player development(skills training and physical conditioning). - Administering and teaching all phases of training and fundamentals for a successful program in accordance with the NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference, and University of West Georgia rules and regulations. Continue education and knowledge staying abreast of all policy, procedures and rule changes related to the golf program. - Provide each student-athlete with the resources and leadership to develop to their full potential while excelling in the classroom and preparing for successful lives after graduation. Develop quality studentathletes within a successful program while maintaining the highest level of integrity and professionalism.

Maintain a high level of contact with and communicate effectively with administrators, staff, student-athletes, parents, alumni and donors. Participate in and support department and program fundraising, promotional and public relation events, campus and community service projects and outreach to include fostering and maintaining healthy relationships with surrounding golf courses, staff and membership. Conceptualize a long-term fundraising strategy to supplement operating and scholarship budgets. - Prepare and manage program budgets following all policies and procedures set forth by the University. Organize and handle office administrative duties including, but not limited to, compliance paperwork, recruiting and travel scheduling.

Develop and implement a recruiting program plan to successfully recruit both regionally and nationally. Provide oversight to a roster management and recruitment strategy that offers an equitable student-athlete experience.

Monitor academic performance of student-athletes.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree is required

Required Experience
At least three years of coaching experience. NCAA Recruiting certification; AED, CPR and First Aid certification preferred, and may be obtained upon hire.

Master's Degree

Preferred Experience
Previous collegiate coaching experience at the NCAA DI level; experience managing budgets; experience with NCAA compliance; experience and knowledge of USGA rules of golf.

Proposed Salary

Salary commensurate with experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to promote a positive environment that allows the student athletes to succeed academically, athletically and in the community. Must be energetic, professional and committed to improving the UWG golf programs. Ability to instruct student athletes in skills and safety. Ability to recruit talented student athletes. Candidates must be physically able to teach/instruct student athletes and perform other physical duties in both hot and cold temperatures. The position requires working early mornings, nights and weekends. Must be able to travel for recruitment and off-campus tournaments, including out of state. Frequent travel in the fall and spring.

Lifting ¿ up to 15lbs Office Environment - Work normally performed in a typical interior work environment. Outdoor Environment - Work outdoors and may not be protected from weather conditions.
