POSITION SUMMARY
Provide leadership to the Walla Walla University Men's Soccer team in the areas of recruiting prospective
student-athletes, retention, skill development, spiritual growth, character development, practice and game
planning for program progress, team development, acquisition of non-league scheduling opportunities, and
execution of additional duties as determined by the Athletic Director.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Identification of prospective student-athletes
•
• Recruitment of prospective student-athletes
• Participation in WWU enrollment events
• Full implementation of "Front Rush" (or current recruitment program) for logging coach-recruit
contacts
• Engage student-athletes in the NAIA eligibility process and monitor their progress via the PlayNAIA
website
• Develop appropriate, meaningful relationships with student-athletes
• Engage student-athletes in relevant aspects of student success
• Cultivate a team culture centered on mutual respect and trust
• Orient individual and team activities, emphasizing processes rather than product
• Full implementation of Front Rush (or current team communication program) for maintaining
effective communication with roster players
• Ensure execution of an appropriate, intentional, and regular spiritual, moral, and character
development program directly associated with team activities
Implement in-season and off-season programs for individual skill development

• Provide appropriate information, training, and supervision of athletic development, injury prevention,
and general fitness activities for student-athletes
• Work with AD and/or Champions of Character Liaison to engage student-athletes in required NAIA
character education modules
• Work with AD and/or Champions of Character Liaison to identify and engage student-athletes in
service projects throughout the community

• Develop and oversee implementation of appropriate, effective, and compelling practice plans for team
development
• Ensure compliance with NAIA limitations regarding practice scheduling
• Develop and oversee implementation of appropriate, effective, and compelling game plans for team
success during individual contests and throughout the season
• Work with AD to identify and secure non-league contests
• Collaborate with SID for gathering roster, schedule, and other relevant information
• Collaborate with the game-management coordinator regarding scheduling student-athletes for
coverage at other WWU athletic events
• Collaborate with SID, their staff, and/or WWU University Relations regarding appropriate media
interaction
• Attend coaching staff and one-on-one meetings as scheduled
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
“Non-essential” If a duty takes up less than 5% of the employees’ time and is not viewed as a critical function
it is likely considered “non-essential” within the context of the ADA. These duties could be reassigned to
another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: High school diploma required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science/Sports Management preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: CPR
• Experience/Skills
• Years of experience: 1-3 years, 3-5 years preferred.

ADDITIONAL JOB-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Use of MS Outlook is a requirement.
Preferred: Proficiency with Front Rush, and video scouting program(s) used.
WORK CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
Job Conditions:
• Frequent: Weekend Work, On-call/after-hours work, Computer use, and speaking, reading, and
understanding English.
• Occasional: Travel, Fast-paced work, Unscheduled interruptions and Driving/operating machinery
or vehicles.
Lifting/Moving: Pushing 100+ pounds. Pulling, Lifting and Carrying 50-100 pounds.
Physical:
• Walking and/or running, moving from location to another, Standing, Sitting, Reaching, handling,
fingering, and/or feeling, i.e. computer use, sports, Talking and/or hearing, and Seeing/vision.
• Occasional: Stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling.
Environment:
• Frequent: Indoor, Wet/Dry Conditions, Cold/Heat and Noise/Vibrations.
• Occasional: Outdoor and Fumes/Dust/Odors.
Equipment: Use of computer, copy and fax, use of soccer equipment, occasional driving of motor-vehicles.
