Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Master degree in Mental Health Counseling or related field and five (5) years of progressive responsibilities in mental health counseling/therapy; or equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of mental health/wellness prevention/education and/or service provision as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with mental health/wellness prevention/education and/or service provision.
Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and word processing software and spreadsheet software.
For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a fully licensed therapist.
Holds and maintains an unrestricted license to practice as a mental health professional in the State of Hawaii.
Demonstrated ability to pay attention to details and strong organizational skills.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule depending on programmatic needs.
Understanding of, and compliance with, privacy standards including HIPAA and FERPA. Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge and functional understanding of the unique stressors and experiences faced by Division 1 Athletes.
Experience in brief behavioral interventions.
Experience working with collegiate student-athletes.
Experience working with and treating eating disorders.
CMPC (Certified Mental Performance Consultant) Certification
At least 3 years of experience in developing and/or managing a mental health program or service.
Experience working in an educational setting.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, educate and interact with staff, coaches, administrators, and student-athletes.
