| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

| Position Summary |
Reporting to the Offensive Coordinator, the Offensive Assistant Coach is responsible for specifically designated aspects of the football program. Perform on field coaching duties, exercises independent judgment in providing technical expertise in teaching the fundamentals of football, teaching student-athletes basic and advanced skills. Assist with preparation for practices, game management for home games and team travel responsibilities. Will assist with community relations and outreach activities as well as work clinics as needed. Manage games and practice computer breakdowns, game day statistical analysis. Must demonstrate integrity, leadership, a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified students who are focused on both academics and athletics.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
At least one year of football coaching experience; experience in an intercollegiate environment preferably at a Division 1 level. Knowledge of and familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations. Good organizational, interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary.

| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Prefer experience and or collegiate playing experience that is related to the area of employment, including game and practice computer breakdowns, game day statistical analysis. Must have knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules, regulations, and commitment to following NCAA and University rules, regulations, and compliance guidelines.

| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
May be required to navigate stairs. Attention to detail is essential. Ability to manage high volume, fast paced environment. May be subject to working in extreme weather conditions. Travel required. Ability to lift/move 25lb or greater with or without reasonable accommodation. Requires Valid NC Driver’s license.

| Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
