CFIA
) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Ice Arena Operations Manager to oversee the back-of-house operations, equipment, and maintenance of our premier ice arena. Join our team and play a crucial role in delivering exceptional experiences for our patrons and athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations and Maintenance:
Facility Oversight:
Ensure all
CFIA
systems, including
HVAC
, dehumidification, ice plant, ice resurfacers, and water treatment, are functioning optimally.
Maintenance:
Maintain the interior and exterior of the facility, ensuring it is clean, safe, and welcoming. Oversee snow removal and cleanliness of all areas.
Equipment Management:
Continuously review and recommend improvements for facility systems. Maintain accurate maintenance records and the facility’s operations manual.
Staff Supervision:
Leadership:
Supervise
CFIA
operations, custodial, and event-specific staff, ensuring high performance and engagement.
Hiring and Training:
Recruit, hire, and evaluate full-time, part-time, and on-call staff. Conduct employee meetings and training sessions.
Scheduling:
Prepare and approve weekly work schedules, ensuring all shifts and events are properly staffed and managed.
Event Coordination:
Event Management:
Assist in coordinating event and game management, including communication, scheduling, staff hiring, security, risk management, and concessions.
Access Control:
Manage access for staff, service organizations, and patrons using keys and swipe cards.
Financial Oversight:
Implement cash management protocols when opening or closing the building, budget planning and oversight.
Strategic Collaboration:
Strategic Decisions:
Work with the Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Operations on decisions impacting future programming and operations.
Decision-Making:
In the absence of the Assistant AD, hold overall responsibility for facility operational decisions.
Essential Duties:
Oversee regular facility shifts, including events and programs.
Ensure security and safety for patrons and staff during all activities.
Provide appropriate access to the facility for various stakeholders.
Maintain proper ice surfaces and facility setups to meet event schedules.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in facility management or operations, preferably in a sports or ice arena environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of
HVAC
, dehumidification, ice plant systems, and general maintenance practices.

Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
1 to 2 years experience
Knowledge of the uses, management and promotion of ice facilities, equipment and systems knowledge of all applicable safety standards for public sports facilities
Ability to attract, retain and supervise ice maintenance, event and custodial staff
Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability for minor repairs of equipment and/or facilities
Degree (Knowledge): Business administration, facility and sport management or related field
Certified Arena Manager, Certified Arena Programmer and Certified Arena Operator
