The Athletic Department at The University of Tampa has an opening for a Part-time Academic Mentor. Academic mentors will aid in keeping students on task, developing organizational and time management skills and also assisting with writing skills, note‐taking, and study skill development. Additionally, this individual will assist with the tutor program, SAAC events, and student-athlete development programming. This position allows participants to gain exposure and hands on experience which will prepare them for a full time position in an academic and/or athletic administrative environment. This is a 10-month position (Aug-May).

Responsibilities

• Meet weekly/bi-weekly with assigned caseload of student‐athletes

• Assist students with learning academic skills and how to successfully utilize them

• Serve as a reference for students to connect with and utilize on campus resources

• Maintain confidentiality regarding student data and correspondence

• Assist Assistant AD with daily tasks. Examples include:

• Other duties as assigned

• Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required/Master's preferred

• N4A Certification preferred

• Ability to use MS Office

• Ability to work in fast paced environment

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skill

• Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office

• Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices

Pay Rate

$15.00 per hour not to exceed $10,000.00 in a 10-month period.

Work Schedule

Part-time schedule/time limited schedule not to exceed 29 hours per week/1000 hours per year.
