Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, this position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the University’s varsity men’s basketball program. The Assistant Coach will aid in coaching instruction to basketball student-athletes during practices and games. This position requires frequent interaction with the head coach, assistant coaches and athletic trainers to help promote a successful and positive athletic experience for all basketball student-athletes. This position works under general supervision of the Head Coach.
Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Responsible for supporting and enhancing the performance of basketball student-athletes.
Assist with the preparation of daily operations and practice plans for basketball athletes as approved and/or established by the head coach.
Works with coaches to determine student and team progress and make needed adjustments.
Contributes to video compilation and editing for coaches and player review.
Attends practices and games.
Assists coaching staff with administrative tasks, as assigned by the head coach.
This includes but is not limited to program operations, daily schedules and internal communication.
In coordination with department units, works administratively to support and improve the overall experience of the basketball student-athletes.
Assists in the recruiting efforts designed to attract academically qualified and athletically gifted student-athletes to program.
Evaluates prospective student-athletes and communicates with high school coaches on their athletic and academic performance.
Provides feedback to the Head Coach on recruitment efforts with an understanding of NCAA rules and roster management.
