Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Head Wrestling Coach, this position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the University’s varsity wrestling program. The Assistant Coach will primarily provide assistance in coaching instruction to wrestling student-athletes during practices and games. This position requires frequent interaction with the head coach, assistant coaches and athletic trainers to help promote a successful and positive athletic experience for all wrestling student-athletes. This position works under general supervision of the Head Coach.
Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Responsible for enhancing the performance of wrestling student-athletes.
Assist with the implementation of the practice plans athletes approved and/or established by the head coach.
Works with coaches to determine progress and making needed individual adjustments.
Attends practices and matches.
Assists coaching staff with administrative tasks, as assigned by the head coach.
This includes but is not limited to equipment/gear order & distribution, OPC data entry, weigh-in food purchases, mat mopping, stat tracking, film review, expense reconciliation, etc.
Assists in the recruiting efforts designed to attract academically qualified and athletically gifted student-athletes to program.
Evaluates prospective student-athletes in-person and through reports from high school coaches on their athletic and academic performance.
Keeps all recruiting records in good order and provides regular reports to the Head Coach on the recruitment status of each prospective student-athlete.
Reports any major concerns or attention for recruitment related issues to the Head Coach.

Required Education and Experience:
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree encouraged.
Approximately 1-3 years coaching experience or experience wrestling at the collegiate or professional level preferred.
