Job Description

The eSports Head Coach, under general supervision, oversees the development and launch of the varsity eSports program at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. The eSports coach will also provide input into the selection of games and tournaments in which to participate.

This position works part-time, including evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** :**

• Recruiting and retaining students for the eSports program
• Conducting coaching and instruction activities during training, practice, and competition
• Providing guidance and input on games selected for varsity competition.
• Providing input on design of eSports facility and selection of equipment, as well as maintaining of same.
• Coordinating off-season, practice, and competition schedules
• Assisting with team travel when necessary
• Pursuing sponsorship opportunities within the eSports business world.
• Ensuring team compliance with all league, conference, and institutional rules and regulations
• Continuously ensuring personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with Texas A&M University-Texarkana values and brand.
• Assist in the development of long-term goal development for the Department of Recreational Sports and the eSports program.
• Assist in the long-term strategic plan for the growth and development of the eSports program.
• Serves on divisional and college-wide committees.
• Running camps, clinics, and promotional events
• Assist in the development of marketing and communications materials for the eSports program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES** :**

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Six years of related experience
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in applicable field.
• Experience coaching eSports Athletes.
• Experience working in a collegiate recreation setting.
• Experience in developing social media platforms for streaming video game feeds for public consumption.
• Experience working with websites and software packages.
• Experience in developing sponsorship and/or donation proposals.

Other Requirements

• Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
