Job Description:
The Head Coach leads and maintains an effective Division III sports program through recruiting, on-court/ field teaching techniques, scheduling and maintaining a competitive conference season, maintain NCAA standards, budget management, fundraising, as well as promoting the sport throughout the University and local community. The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects that relate to the sports program including the ongoing development of the student athlete, promoting their physical, academic, and social growth in line with the mission and values of the University. The Head Coach is expected to serve as the public face of the program, creating and maintaining a positive public image while recruiting and training student-athletes to compete at the highest level possible. This position reports to the Athletics Director.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive training program to enhance players' skills, knowledge, and performance in volleyball.
Plan and conduct regular practices, focusing on individual and team development, strategy implementation, and game preparation
Provide instruction and guidance to players on proper techniques, rules, and strategies specific to volleyball
Teach and set expectations of appropriate team conduct during competition, travel, practice and any University event, and at any other times when the team is representing the University.
Evaluate players' abilities and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills and performance.
Develop game plans and strategies to maximize the team's chances of success during competitions
Ensure compliance with Atlantic East Conference and university policies and procedures.
Meet student athlete recruiting goals as established by the Director of Athletics and Recreation
Achieve and maintain certification for CPR/AED and First Aid
Monitor team fundraising account and ensure accurate coordination and reporting of funds usage and maintenance in accordance with university guidelines
Develop and maintain alumni relations for the promotion of the program.
Represent the University and its athletics program, with honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship at all times, to various institutional programs and students, parents and families, the general public, alumni and external agencies.
Work with various departments and personnel at the university to aid in the development of a positive student-athlete experience.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the noted knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must possess effective coaching skills and techniques to instruct athletes
Must possess ability to teach good sportsmanship and teamwork
Possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport
Complete all coaching requirements regarding sports safety including maintaining current certification in CPR, First Aid & AED and recertify as needed on an annual basis
Must have the ability to develop positive relationships with athletes, co-workers, University faculty/administration and parents
Excellent communication in both written and verbal formats
Computer skills, ability to use Microsoft products (Word, Email, Teams, etc.)
Must possess driver's license with clean driving record
Ability to work flexible schedule including evening, weekend, recruitment and special events as necessary
