Job Description:

Job Summary

The Part-Time Temporary SecondAssistant CC/Track Coach is responsible for assisting in planning and administering all aspects of the CC/Track Program as assigned. Under the direction of the FT Head and FT Assistant Coaches, the PT Temporary SecondAssistant CC/Track Coach should model and maintain an exemplary student-athlete concept and the personal development of a student athlete who's on and off the court/field behavior reflects favorably upon the Our Lady of the Lake community in general and the athletics program in particular.

Essential Functions:

1. Responsible for providing coaching and administrative assistance to the Head Coach in all areas of the CC / Track program.
2. Conduct all practices at the discretion of the FT coaches.
3. Assists with scouting and recruitment of quality student-athletes.
4. Ensures the highest professional standards and behavior with regard to adherence to NAIA rules and regulations.
5. Advise student-athletes regarding rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility.
6. Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary, personal matters while adhering to FERPA guidelines.
7. Monitor academic progress and eligibility status for student-athletes in class and study hall.
8. Participates in annual continuing education programs regarding NAIA rules.
9. Coordinates and assist administration with home and visiting team's game day activities (schedule practices, setup and breakdown of equipment, personnel, field set up, etc.).
10. Works with Sports Information Director to communicate the accomplishments and endeavors of the JV team and individuals.
11. Assists in special events and tournaments, championships, fundraisers, and/or clinics to include, but not limited to, major fundraisers, camps, and/or clinics.
12. Subscribes and adheres to the NAIA Coaches Code of Conduct.
13. Adhere and promotes the NAIA Champions of Character student development.
14. Attend all scheduled meetings.
15. Assist in enrolling student-athletes according to OLLU Admissions policies and standards.
16. Adhere to Residence Life procedures to securing housing accommodations.
17. Communicate effectively with all academic/faculty advisors, financial aid, business office, registrar and other university personnel.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Participates in Student Affairs Division programs and activities.
2. Serves as liaison for the university community of faculty, staff, students and administrators.
3. Adhere to university policies, state and federal laws concerning Title IX, HIPPA, and FERPA policies.
4. Contribute and support the university vibrancy initiative.
5. Recruit within the limits of the scholarship budget.
6. Assist with all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Thorough knowledge of fundamentals, technical aspects, and strategy for assigned sport.
2. Ability to recruit and retain qualified athletes and to facilitate timely progress toward graduation.
3. Effective oral and written communication skills.
4. Ability to learn, apply and adhere to NAIA rules and regulations.
5. Ability to interact well with officials, coaches, parents, media, and the public.
6. Ability to work with students of all faiths and mentor student-athletes.
7. Demonstrated leadership skills.
8. Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills.
9. Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekend and evening hours

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
2. A minimum of three years of coaching experience, preferably in a college, club travel, or UIL setting in the assigned sport is preferred.
