The physical requirements of this position include: regularly lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects 50lbs and above; occasionally sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time with repetitive motions (such as typing); regular risk of back injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; regular exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens; and occasional exposure to combative/violent people.
This is primarily day shift working Monday through Friday; 8:00 am – 6:00 pm with occasional weekend athletic venue coverage.
The University of Kentucky Healthcare (UKHC) Enterprise is seeking a Sports Physical Therapy Resident.This residency position involves formal resident education, mentoring, athletic venue coverage, as well as treating patients in the UK Sports Rehabilitation clinic. The Physical Therapist Resident will provide direct patient care while adhering to the policies and procedures of UKHC and in accordance with state and federal regulations.This position will perform physical therapy evaluations and render physical therapy treatments following a physician’s order; treat patients with a variety of diagnoses; and perform appropriate documentation in the medical record. New graduates are welcome to apply. Applicants must also have applied for the position through APTA PTCAS.
The ideal candidate will have a sports medicine and manual therapy background; direct patient care and critical thinking skills; basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet; ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner with patients and their families, co-workers and physicians; and strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
