Job Summary:

1. Installation of new plumbing systems using the proper materials, methods, and procedures. Installations shall meet any local, state, and BOCA codes.

2. Repairs to existing plumbing systems.

3. Utilities installation, repairs, and maintenance. Must be able to size lines, select proper materials, install materials to meet codes, and make repairs.

4. Miscellaneous support to all shops and engineering Department as to proper materials, methods, and practices in the installation of plumbing systems.

Athletics events and practices are often after 5p.m. or before 8a.m. and/or on weekends

Requires the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School/GED

Two years of prior successful work experience in plumbing, gas piping installations and other utility experience in the building trades or a technical field.

Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience; preference given to post-secondary education in plumbing.

Working knowledge of hydronic systems which includes steam, heating, and cooling systems

Ability to follow instructions precisely and completely, have good communication skills, ability to work with very little supervision

Positive team standing

Have before hire, and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

Working knowledge of plumbing codes and how to install systems to meet these codes. Knowledge of various materials that can be used and meet all codes.

Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain a cellular or other electronic communication device. The incumbent's salary includes compensation to apply toward the use of their personal cellular device.

Preferred Qualifications:

Vocational/Technical degree in Plumbing and Utility work
