Job Description

Cornell University is looking for Program Assistant to join the AAD team that supports the Division of Student & Campus Life (SCL) including Big Red Athletics in Ithaca, NY. SCL’s mission is to inspire transformation and support students as they navigate a critical period of personal growth and development. Our staff lead programs including athletics and recreation, community engaged learning, mental and physical health services, a robust and foundational residential experience, career services, and efforts to cultivate a strong sense of belonging for all students.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Development, the Program Assistant provides critical support and partnership for the development efforts of the SCL and Athletics AAD team, which is responsible for raising more than $30M annually to enhance the experiences of all Cornell students and student-athletes.

In addition to supporting front-line fundraising and leading stewardship and reporting efforts, this role will also support broad-based fundraising initiatives like crowdfunding, phonathons, Giving Day, and mail and email campaigns as needed, and will manage student workers, including hiring, training, and supervising their efforts. Thoughtful and proactive internal communication is essential.

The SCL and Athletics AAD team maintains a strong commitment to team culture, customer service, stewardship, excellence, and fun within an energetic, fast-paced environment, and will expect the Program Assistant to hold themselves to the same standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a strategic partner on prospect management and progression of individual gift conversations

  • Gather content in support of solicitations and impact reports.

  • Lead stewardship efforts and acknowledgment processes that recognize all gifts to Student & Campus Life program areas and athletic teams.

  • Oversee student involvement in donor stewardship (thankathons, thank a giver days, etc).

  • Manage development reporting on behalf of the team to track progress toward annual and campaign goals and work plans.
