The Exercise and Sports Science Department at the University of Central Arkansas is searching for a Program Director for the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MS-AT) beginning July 1, 2024. This is a 12-month tenure track faculty position. The candidate must be committed to serving in an administrative leadership role while also demonstrating teaching excellence, scholarship and service.
The program director (PD) is a full -time faculty position with the primary concern for the graduate athletic training program. Works with the EXSS department chair in determining faculty teaching loads and assignments. Collaborates with the Clinical Education Coordinator, Medical Director, and other faculty to maintain CAATE accreditation. Monitors the overall evaluation of program outcomes and determines when curricular, personnel and program modifications are needed. Teaching responsibilities include primarily graduate athletic training and EXSS department courses. Research performance includes national/international publications and presentation, as well as, mentoring graduate student research. Provides academic advising for program students and service to the department, college university and profession. Collaborates with core faculty to recruit and advocate for the program.

Formal education of a Master’s degree required. Earned doctorate (e.g. PhD, EdD, DAT) from a regionally accredited institution Previous full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level Previous clinical practice experience as a certified athletic trainer Contemporary expertise in the field of athletic training Certification in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer Current Arkansas state licensure as an athletic trainer or Arkansas license eligible Evidence of NPI number with appropriate health care field designation Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
Current earned tenure as assistant, associate or full professor Three years of experience as program director for accredited athletic training curriculum Five years of post-secondary teaching experience with demonstration of teaching excellence Experience teaching courses in athletic training (e.g. foundations, injury evaluation, clinical education), as well as, serving departmental needs (e.g. graduate research methods, mentoring graduate research projects) Established record of research including external funding and quality publication Demonstrated excellence in mentoring graduate student research/projects Demonstrated professional services for college/department committees and for state, regional, national or international professional organizations
