| Nature and Scope |
The incumbent reports to the campus dean of student affairs and is a member of the Student Affairs team. A significant aspect of this position is recruiting prospective students by promoting athletics and academic programs and by developing and maintaining working relationships with high school athletic directors and coaches. The incumbent will develop and implement programs which support student-athlete development and academic success, monitor the academic progress of athletes, train and supervise athletics staff, market the athletics program, ensure compliance with NJCAA regulations, maintain the campus athletics budget, order appropriate supplies and equipment, and schedule practices and games. Typical contacts for this position include administrators, faculty, and staff; high school and college athletics staff; coaches; student and parents.

| Principal Accountabilities |
An incumbent may perform any combination of the below listed accountabilities:
Facilitates student-athlete academic success and graduation. This includes monitoring student-athlete academic progress and developing and implementing proactive support and intervention strategies to ensure student-athletes remain in good academic standing at all times and stay on track to graduate within the necessary timeframe.
Develops and monitors initiatives, programs, and resources to increase student-athlete retention and graduation. Works with coaches to ensure they provide appropriate resources and guidance to support student-athlete academic success.
Assesses student-athlete academic outcomes at the end of each semester and collaborates with the dean of student affairs to develop and implement appropriate improvement actions to strengthen academic outcomes.
Maintains data and compiles reports on recruitment activity, student-athlete academic progress, student-athlete graduation rates, eligibility, etc.
Fosters student-athlete development by implementing and encouraging opportunities for leadership development, civic engagement, etc. Implements appropriate wellness and physical activity programs responsive to College and campus needs.
Implements collegewide plan to recruit and enroll student-athletes for campus-based program. Assists athletic coaches in recruiting student-athletes by providing support with campus tours, admissions information, and financial aid assistance. Ensures recruitment efforts are aligned with the collegewide vision and mission for athletics.
Provides support to ensure collegewide compliance with student-athlete eligibility, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) requirements, and all state and federal laws related to athletics, including Title IX. Oversees the maintenance of the eligibility files on all student-athletes to ensure compliance with NJCAA eligibility. Assists the Dean of Student Affairs with matters involving student-athlete discipline.
Supervises athletics staff including coaches and an administrative assistant.
Plans athletic schedule for all campus sports, including practices, games, and transportation to and from athletic games and events. Secures and schedules game day officials, athletic trainers, game day staff, etc.
Assists in collegewide marketing and promotion of athletics in order to facilitate strong public relations and engage the internal and external community in supporting Delaware Tech athletics.
With the support of the campus dean of student affairs, develops and manages athletics budget, ensuring consistent resource allocation practices across sports, securing contractual services, and ordering appropriate supplies and equipment.
Serves as the College representative at designated athletic events, games, or other activities. Provides game day management for College athletic events.
Develops and maintains a working relationship with Delaware high school athletic directors and coaches.
Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge of student development theories and strategies.

Knowledge of National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) rules, regulations, and compliance topics.
Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.
Knowledge of Title IX and other relevant Federal and/or State regulations.
Knowledge of collegiate sports.
Knowledge of student records systems.
Ability to use databases, and spreadsheet software to analysis statistical information.
Knowledge of state contract process and procurement laws.
Working knowledge of developing and monitoring budgets.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Ability to develop rapport with staff and students.

| Minimum Qualifications |
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of relevant experience, or other equivalent combination of education and experience.
