The prime function of this position is to provide psychological and performance optimization services to student-athletes. This position is responsible for psychological evaluation and treatment, individualize performance consultation, crisis intervention and management, team/coach consultation, preventative programming, and coordination of clinical referrals for care. This position will be the point psychologist over their respective sport programs.
This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.

Provide psychological services to all student-athletes. This will include, but is not limited to, individual or group session, case consultation, crisis management/intervention, documentation/record keeping, treatment planning, and referral management as indicated.
Medical staff consultation, interdisciplinary management, and treatment team participation. This includes, but is not limited to, working with all parties involved in the care of a student-athlete, which may include a dietitian, physician, athletic trainer, strength coach, and outside or campus provider(s). This responsibility may also include close communication or consultative support with coaching staff, sport administrators, and legal guardians when indicated.
Interdisciplinary work will also be reflected through presentations and workshops focused on the psychoeducation of organizational mental health throughout the athletics departments
Development and implementation of sport psychology and optimal performance interventions to individuals and teams. Prevention and psychoeducation will be done in 1:1 office settings, practices, team travel, and group meetings/workshops. This includes the development and delivery of programming specific to student-athlete personal development, mental health and wellness, leadership, interpersonal effectiveness skills, performance psychology etc. Programming will range from team specific to cross-sport
Provide administrative and coach consultation regarding mental health and high performance best practices for respective programs. This will include both organizational and individual high-performance considerations.
Participation in coaching/support staff and team meetings at least once a month, and up to 2 times a week, for all programs. This responsibility will include educational and preventative presentations or workshops to all staff and coaches,
The above outlines objectives can be delivered in various modalities (travel, practices, 1:1, team meetings, etc)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Provide individual clinical assessment, psychological treatment, and case management for student-athletes
Assess and respond to crisis intervention with individuals and groups within the athletic department
Coordinate referrals to outside resources for mental health, ADHD/LD assessment, and AOD services for student-athletes
Conduct multi-disciplinary team within the athletic department in the management of student-athletes with significant mental health issues, disordered eating, etc.
Provided supervision to various department internships and externships
Assist in the development and implementation of student-athlete programming for leadership, development, personal growth, and health and wellness
Establish and maintain relationships with university and community mental health providers
Provide individual and team performance optimization consultation sessions
Support all Arizona Athletics Teams in performance enhancement and mental health initiatives
Provide individual coach and administrative consultation
Develop and deliver department wide mental health and wellness initiatives
Ethical and timely, medical documentation and record keeping
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to provide treatment and/or consultation that spans the spectrum of care for student-athletes ranging from debilitating emotional distress to optimization of performance.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively, respectfully and appropriately with diverse populations in the
Department, University and the community.
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology
Five years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Arizona as a Licensed Psychologist
Advanced training in sport psychology (e.g., Association for Applied Sport Psychology Certified Mental Performance Consultant, member of the USOC sport psychology registry, APA Division 47 Fellow Status)
