The prime function of this position is to provide psychological and performance optimization services to student-athletes. This position is responsible for psychological evaluation and treatment individualize performance consultation, crisis intervention, and management, team/coach consultation, preventative programming, and coordination of clinical referrals for care. This position reports to the Director of Athletic Medicine or their designee.
This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.

Provide individual clinical assessment, psychological treatment, and case management for student-athletes.
Assess and respond to crisis intervention with individuals and groups within the athletic department.
Coordinate referrals to outside resources for mental health, ADHD/LD assessment, and AOD services for student-athletes,
Participate in multi-disciplinary team within the athletic department in the management of student-athletes with significant mental health issues, disordered eating, etc.
Provided supervision to various department internships.
Assist in the development and implementation of student-athlete programming for leadership, development, personal growth, and health and wellness.
Establish relationships with university and community mental health providers.
Enhance awareness of mental health issues impacting student-athletes.
Provide individual performance optimization consultation sessions.
Deliver team sport psychology sessions.
Remain available for coach and administrative consultation.
Medical documentation and record keeping.
Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by the NCAA, PAC12 Conference, University of Arizona and the University of Arizona Department of Athletics
Adhere to the APA Code of Ethics and statues of the State of Arizona.
Participate in special projects, committees, or other initiatives as assigned.
Represent the University of Arizona and the UA Department of Athletics at University, State, Regional, National, and International conferences and/or meetings, as assigned.
Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of unique aspects of student-athlete population.
Knowledge of, and ability to conduct, AOD assessments, and ability to work with the student-athlete population on these issues.
Knowledge and understanding of working with diverse and multicultural populations.
Demonstrated ability to provide treatment and/or consultation that spans the spectrum of care for student-athletes ranging from debilitating emotional distress to optimization of performance.
Knowledge and understanding of eating disorders/disordered eating – assessment and treatment.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively, respectfully and appropriately with diverse populations in the Department, University and the community.
Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication.
Capable of handling multiple tasks in a high stress environment.
Able to accurately interpret and adhere to NCAA and PAC12 Conference rules, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, University of Arizona and the Department of Athletics polices, and Arizona psychologist licensure statutes.
Ability to work with Excel and Word.
Dedication and motivation to initiate, lead and support value-added projects.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Knowledge of position related NCAA, Pac-12, and University of Arizona rules and compliance.
Self-motivated, results-oriented, and has a positive demeanor.
Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities and successfully manage multiple priority projects.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations.

PhD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology required.
Eightyears of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Advanced training in sport psychology {e.g., Association for Applied Sport Psychology Certified Mental Performance Consultant, member of the USOC sport psychology registry, APA Division 47 Fellow Status).
Experience providing treatment and/or consultation that spans the spectrum of care for student-athletes ranging from debilitating emotional distress to optimization of performance.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
