Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Women’s Softball is responsible for the assisting the Head Coach in
the day-to-day administrative and program management of the programs, to include: recruitment, retention, and
skills training, as it relates to the development of a competitive NCAA Division II Women’s Softball program
capable of winning CIAA championships and capable of competing for a National championship. The Assistant
Coach is accountable for ensuring the team’s compliance with NCAA and CIAA rules and regulations and with
University policies, procedures and budgetary constraints. The Assistant Coach will actively assist in fundraising
endeavors and committee service as assigned. This is a part-time seasonal position.

• Maintains current sport-specific technical and coaching knowledge, develops existing members of the
program, assists in the organization of practice plans and competition, communicates and demonstrates
specific required skills.
• Adheres to all institutional, Conference and all other rules, regulations and policies.
• Assists in the oversight of volunteer coaches and student workers to ensure that all team oriented duties
are completed in a timely manner.
• Assists Head coach in all academic matters pertaining to the team, including instructing/teaching student
athletes in the fundamentals of the sport.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning with prior participation
experience in collegiate athletics preferred.
• 2-5 years coaching experience at the college level is preferred or equivalent combination of education
and experience.
• Prior experience as a softball player at the collegiate level preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, teach and mentor student athletes required.
• Must have valid driver’s license, maintain a clean driving record.
• Must be responsive, quick-thinking, and possess an innate ability to anticipate and respond to issues.
• Establish priorities, and work in an organized manner with emphasis on detail and accuracy.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments and meet competing deadlines.

Physical Demands:
The work environment is an athletic and office setting which requires the ability to travel much of the time, work
long hours including evenings and weekends, be physically active, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and have the
ability to demonstrate specific skills.
