ABOUT

The primary objective of the position is the development and implementation of the "Redshirt" athlete program for students wanting to participate in intercollegiate athletics.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach activity courses such as Athletic Conditioning and Advanced Weight Training to redshirt athletes.
• Coach the redshirt (developmental) sports team.
• Evaluate students/players based on progress made in the following areas: academic performance, citizenship, athletic ability, and work ethic.

• Assist the head coach and assistant coaches in training, sports events, practices, and assessment of performance of the intercollegiate team and redshirt athletes.
• Assist in the analysis and game plan formulation for each opponent.
• Assist incoming freshmen with any procedures for admitting and enrolling at the College.
• Monitor academic progress and study sessions of student athletes.
• Supervise student athletes on the practice field and in the weight room.
• Provide input regarding which redshirt athletes to promote to the intercollegiate team.
• Recruit students/players to Tyler Junior College from area high schools, including corresponding with targeted students/players, their coaches, and parents.

If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record

WHO YOU ARE

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Additional Job-Specific Requirements
Must be enrolled in a Master’s degree program
