The purpose of the Registrar is to perform the role as chief administrator for the Office of the Registrar with a thorough understanding of course registration, grading, scheduling systems, and academic policies and procedures. The Registrar is responsible for keeping official student documents, ensuring student information security, confirming compliance with academic and accreditation policies, certifying students for graduation, verifying athletic eligibility and complying with all federal laws pertaining to the confidentiality of student records.

The Registrar is responsible for keeping official student documents, ensuring student information security, confirming compliance with academic and accreditation policies, certifying students for graduation, verifying athletic eligibility and complying with all federal laws pertaining to the confidentiality of student records.
· Oversee the maintenance, security and protect the confidentiality of all student academic records
· Assist and support faculty, staff, students and outside personnel with registrar procedures and other academic needs and requests
· Oversee, evaluate and process transfer courses for all incoming transfer transcripts for students for both foreign and domestic credentials
· Oversee and compile grades each semester for both undergraduate and graduate students
· Verify graduation requirements by applying, enforcing and interpreting academic policy
· Certify students for graduation
· Oversee course schedule procedures for all courses
· Serve as the NCAA athletic certifying official
· Oversee the correction of information in National Student Clearinghouse
· Compile the university approved course equivalency guide for the SBU website
· Provide assistance for prospective students relating to course schedules and transfer equivalencies
· Coordinate with off-campus centers to ensure that enrollments and grades are completed in a timely fashion
· Develop solid office staff by hiring, evaluating, training, terminating, and supervising department employees
· Set an example with regular attendance and punctuality in this SBU position
· Monitor and approve budget transactions
· Oversee strategic planning for the Office of the Registrar
· Set an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, staff and faculty
· Commitment and adherence to Southwest Baptist University’s Principles and Expectations
· Perform any other duties as assigned by the Provost or President
