Provides administrative, supervision and implementation of all scholarship programs. Assists the Director in implementation of the award program to ensure awards and disbursements are in compliance with federal and state regulations and university policy. Directly assists the director with athletic compliance assurance of
NCAA
rules for athletic scholarships. Assists the Director with funds reconciliation and annual audit requests. Performs other duties as necessary.
Assists Director in the implementation of award programs to ensure scholarship awards and disbursements are in compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and policy.
Supervision and training of Scholarship Support Specialist and any assigned work-study student(s).
NCAA
compliance assurance and athletic scholarship awarding and maintenance.
Participate/Lead as appropriate in Banner systems/procedures planning and management.
Collaborate with the Athletic Department and communicate with student athletes when appropriate.
Responds to inquiries and researches and resolves problems related to transactions handled by the department.
Serves as a liaison with other departments or units in the resolution of day to day administrative and operational issues.
Serves as a liaison with state, federal, tribal, and other agencies, as well as internal
NMHU
departments.
Assists with Reconciliation of all scholarship funds to assure federal compliance.
Oversees student employment process.
Assists Director with annual auditor requests and review.
Provides oversight and management of the Satisfactory Academic Progress review completed by the advisors.
Serves on committees representing the financial aid office as assigned by the Director.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree in any field plus three (3) years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of experience in Financial Aid (or related industry) in a professional capacity OR any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience totaling five (5) years may be considered.
Experience: Knowledge working with Ellucian Banner software and Microsoft Office Suite
Must be wiling to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and odd hours.
Ability to work in a high performing environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of financial aid policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to make evaluative judgments.
Ability to verify and assess student eligibility for financial aid.
Interviewing skills.
Ability to develop and present educational and/or workshops.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Knowledge of customer services standards and procedures.
Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations and policies concerning the provision of financial aid to students.
Knowledge of data management systems and processes.
Skills in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Organizing and coordination skills.
Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Knowledge of the policies and eligibility requirements of a range of federal state and agency scholarship programs.
