BASIC FUNCTION :
The purpose of this position is to provide care for the Howard University student-athlete in the following areas: prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses, evaluation of athletic injuries, treatment of athletic injuries, providing education and counseling to student-athletes about their injury/illness. This position directly reports to the Director of Sports Medicine.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses, evaluation of athletic injuries, treatment of athletic injuries, providing education and counseling to student-athletes about their injury/illness.
Assist with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room.
Help supervise the Assistant Athletic Trainers.
Assist with Administrative Duties assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.
Travels with assigned team.
Participates in inventory management of supplies.
Documents and maintains student-athlete PHI (i.e. physicals, injury reports, rehabilitation, etc.) into EMR
Maintains appropriate communication with the Director of Sports Medicine, student-athletes, coaches, and physicians.
Maintains appropriate communication and attends meetings within the Department of Athletics.
Maintains an athletic calendar of events for team practice, games, and other schedule activities.

Will coordinate and maintain records for all athletic physical examinations for all student-athletes.
Completes required CEU’s for BOCATC.
Remain in good standing with the BOCATC.
Uphold Howard University Sports Medicine Policy & Procedures for athletes.
Works more than the traditional 40 hours per week, which may include many weekends (including Sundays), nights and holidays.
Must possess a valid driver’s license for transportation of team in vans and the ability to travel for team practices and competition.
Other duties as assigned.
