The department is especially interested in candidates with a Master’s Degree, and intercollegiate business office experience in a D1 setting.This position is posted until filled. The department will begin screening applicants immediately.

Job Duties
Reports to the Athletics Director assists with key financial decisions and serves as a member of the athletics senior management team for all matters relating to budgeting, financial management, and contracts. Supervises the Athletic Business Office, and Equipment Operations and serves as primary contact for University Human Resources and IT Services staff.
Assists Athletics Director with the preparation of the annual departmental budget including the preparation of long-range financial plans, and reports, and analyzes past years’ information. Acts as the primary contact person for all departmental budget questions.Prepares and monitors the department’s operating budget. Develops annual financial procedures to involve coaches and staff in the budgeting process.Coordinates annual NCAA audits, State audits, internal audits, etc., and assists with their examination of departmental records.
Creates long-term financial forecasts to include contractual agreements, incremental revenues, and fixed/variable expenses.Provides regular and accurate analysis and forecasts against budgetary goals and objectives. Manages, analyzes, and assists in negotiating contractual agreements. Reviews and administers Nike contracts and all gift-in-kind/trade agreements.Oversees and reviews annual financial reports for the NCAA, EADA, and the American Athletic Conference Survey.
Serves as departmental liaison with the university business and finance departments (Accounting, Financial Planning, Payroll, Student Business Services, etc.) and meets regularly to discuss current business and finance issues and ensures an open line of communication and effective institutional oversight of business practices.Works directly with other departments coordinating the preparation of all purchase requisitions and purchase orders through the Tigerbuy purchase order system.Monitors and manages all contracts with third-party vendors for revenue generation and expenditures. Implements cost-saving initiatives and procurement programs for travel, equipment, supplies, etc.
Oversees the department’s human resources guidelines, procedures, and strategies. including salary and contract administration, preparation and distribution of personnel action request forms, position control, and other payroll documents.Ensures compliance with university policies relating to employee payroll actions and benefits in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.Serve as primary Athletics Department administrator for all matters related to Human Resources
Oversees the financial aspects of all athletic capital projects in partnership with the EVP/COO/FO including new facility construction, facility improvements, and maintenance expenses.Provides strategic planning and forecasting of all aspects of Athletic Operations to the Athletics Director and EVP/COO/CFO
Manages all Foundation Accounts, Restricted Fee Accounts, and Donation Accounts. Works directly with the Athletics Director, the EVP/COO/CFO, and the administration of the UofM Foundation and the Auxiliary Services Foundation to maximize resources to best support the needs of the UofM Athletic programs including developing needed materials for the State’sconsideration and approval of any related transactions (SBC, TSSBA, UofM/ASF Boards, etc).
Reconciles and balances all athletic accounts with the university and at the close of the fiscal year; generates budget analysis reports as required and monthly budget reports for each coach and supports department heads with budget responsibility.Develops, implements, communicates, and monitors policies, procedures, and controls for various business processes and initiatives; Creates a process for dual signature authority on all expenditures/reimbursements.Prepares monthly financial statements for distribution to coaches, staff, and senior administration. Provide financial reports for outside entities, as needed.
Responsible for oversight of all departmental expenditures, deposits, and authorizations for expenditures, including reimbursements, travel authorizations and advances, payroll, purchase requisitions, etc.Maintains oversight of all athletic accounts in correlation with the Banner system, including budget transfers and interdepartmental transfers.
Assists in the formulation of the Athletics Department Strategic Plan with direct responsibility for the execution of strategic priorities and initiatives.
Develops and maintains up-to-date departmental policies and procedures for travel, purchasing, revenue collection, cash handling, inventory control, accounting requirements, and financial reporting.Ensures that all business and financial guidelines of the department are in full compliance with university, state, and NCAA guidelines.
Collaborates with the EVP/COO/CFO in developing financial strategies for Athletics and other areas as assigned in researching best practices and streamlining financial processes.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Athletics Director and EVP/COO/CFO. Position may include sport admin oversight.
