The Senior Associate Athletic Trainer for Football will work under the medical supervision of the head team physician and is responsible for assisting the Head Football Athletic Trainer with the day-to-day sports medicine/athletic training operations, athlete-centered health care services, and facility coordination for the Jones-Hill House Gossett Athletic Training Facility. Duties include prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries and illnesses; pre-participation physical organization; maintaining medical records; completing required insurance claims; daily interaction and communication with coaching staff, team physicians, staff athletic trainers, recruits and administration; attending team practices and events; drug testing administration, staff management of assistant athletic trainers and students; and manages injury prevention programming. Assist the Director of Head Football Athletic Trainer with performing other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Duty/Responsibility (1): Provide comprehensive athletic training services for football student athletes including evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and documentation of athletic injury /Illness. Attend practices, events and home and away competitions as assigned. Primary sport coverage for football. Percentage (1): 80%
Essential Duty/Responsibility (2): Provide staff management and facility operations oversight of the Jones-Hill House Gossett Athletic Training Facility. Serve on the athletic training leadership team. Percentage (2): 15%
Essential Duty/Responsibility (3): Comply with policies, rules and regulations governing the
NCAA
, Big 10 conference, the State of Maryland, the University, the University Health Center and the sports medicine program. Maintain licensure and continuing education to support and advance knowledge base, and perform other duties as assigned. Percentage (3): 5%

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited athletic training educational program degree or related field.
Current National Board of Certification (
BOC
) for Athletic Trainers,
CPR
and
AED
Certification for healthcare workers by an accredited organization; current or eligible State of Maryland Athletic Trainer Licensure.
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience as a certified athletic trainer in collegiate or professional sport organization.
One (1) year of supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication, organizational, administrative, and teamwork skills.
Experience providing health care services for college or professional athletes.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include some evenings, weekends and holidays.
Preferences:
Master’s degree from an accredited athletic training educational program degree or related field.

A moderate physical effort and levels of dexterity, including but not limited to:
The ability to stand for long periods of time in all weather conditions;
The ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds;
The ability to assist injured individuals on/off the playing field/court/surfaces;
The ability to climb, stand, stoop, run, and type.
The ability to work with individuals on various pieces of medical, physical therapy, and/or strength and conditioning equipment; and
The ability to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, extended periods of time without days off, travel, and be on-call as a regular part of the daily job.
