The Senior Associate/Deputy AD of Compliance serves as the as chief compliance officer and manages the day-to-day compliance operations within the Department of Athletics as well as exhibits the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to Chicago State’s efforts to comply with all NCAA, conference and Department of Athletics rules and regulations. This candidate is responsible for monitoring the systems which assist the University in complying with all University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. The Senior Associate/Deputy AD of Compliance supervises compliance staff in addition to coordinates and direct coaches and monitors the recruitment, admission, and initial eligibility of prospects in all sports programs.
· Oversee all aspects of athletics compliance to ensure all NCAA and conference rules and regulations are followed· Serve as the primary liaison to the NCAA and conference for compliance issues· Supervises compliance staff including scheduling and assignment of work, reviewing performance, recommending salary actions, promotions, or discharges· Serve as sport administrator for select varsity sports and as a member of the athletic department’s senior staff.· Manage the day-to-day compliance operations for 15 NCAA Division I sports· Oversee all investigations of potential violations and report rules violations. Consult with General Counsel to determine if or when outside counsel should be utilized.· Ensure that appropriate systems are in place and functioning for rules education, monitoring and enforcement.· Support a strong culture of institutional control by maintaining effective lines of communication throughout the athletics department and the University.· Identify and anticipate areas of potential weakness or vulnerability and develop improvements or solutions.· Evaluate the student-athlete eligibility certification process and ensure coordination with the FAR, Registrar and Student-Athlete academic personnel.· Oversee athletic financial aid awarding and monitoring.· Supports the utilization of the SAF/SAOF monies/budgeting to support student development.· Oversee the complimentary ticket process for all home football and men’s basketball games.· Supports the developing & implementing of strategic planning initiatives for both the University and Department of Athletics with the Athletic Director.· Maintain open lines of communication and serve on University, conference or NCAA committees.· Evaluate all policies and procedures and update procedure manual as needed.· Develop methods to educate and communicate with donors and others external to the University.· Maintain communication/correspondence with the CAA/attend/sit on conference calls as necessary, serve as a liaison with sport programs in developing/working through conference initiatives, rule changes, and championships.· Monitor the initial eligibility waiver, progress towards degree and legislative relief waivers for student-athletes.· Perform other duties as assigned.
Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.· Bachelor’s degree required plus seven years full-time, post collegiate experience in NCAA Division compliance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.· Supervisory managerial experience.· Experience working within a university setting.
Master’s degree preferred.
· Extensive knowledge and comprehensive understanding of NCAA Division I rules and governance.· Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing.· Strong interpersonal skills.· Extensive experience with compliance monitoring programs and NCAA applications (e.g., ARMS, Teamworks, RSRO, LSDBi, Eligibility Center, Transfer Portal, Academic Portal, etc.).· Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.· Ability to resolve conflict and address problems with various constituencies (student-athletes, coaches and staff, parents, faculty, etc.).· Administrative or leadership experience.· Exceptional organizational and time management skills.· Experience in hiring, training and evaluating employees.· Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required.· Thought leader and partner
