Job Description

Job Description: The Senior Philanthropic Giving Officer is responsible for creating a climate conducive for giving by developing and securing gifts (outright and pledged) of $25,000+ for special programs and projects, new initiatives and campaigns with an assigned portfolio that reflects the university's priority in increased fundraising for intercollegiate athletics. This includes identifying prospective donors to determine their potential as donors through strategic cultivation and well-tried solicitations. Soliciting gifts and bringing gifts to closure for assigned prospects is an essential directive for the role. The Senior Philanthropic Giving Officer, as part of a cultivation strategy, may also serve as a staff liaison to assigned volunteer groups, providing to them high-quality fundraising counsel and guidance. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Philanthropic Giving, the Senior Philanthropic Giving Officer is a vital member of the University's soliciting team and is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, closure and stewardship of gifts of $25,000+ from alumni and friends of Arcadia University. Part of this position's portfolio will focus on intercollegiate athletic fundraising. The Senior Philanthropic Giving Officer will collaborate with fellow gift officers, senior leadership, faculty, and colleagues throughout the University to ensure that outreach to top-level alumni and donors is coordinated and effective. This individual will seek to support the University's mission, its articulated priorities and their athletic portfolio while giving life to the overall core values of University Advancement, which are integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, and results.

Location: Glenside

Responsibilities :

  • Independently manage the identification, cultivation, and solicitation process for a portfolio of approximately 100 - 120 prospective donors. The portfolio will include current and prospective donors in and around the Philadelphia-area, as well as in one or more regions outside of the Commonwealth, making travel a requirement of this role. This position is expected to spend a majority of time on the road building a network, meeting with donors, and making discovery visits to identify new prospective donors. Conduct a minimum of 120 prospective donor meetings annually, submit a minimum of 30 major gift proposals of $25,000 or greater which will need to include a request for unrestricted and restricted support for athletics. Achievement expectations for this position in the first year will be $25,000-$50,000 secured through personal solicitations.
  • Collaborate with annual fund officers to help manage the division's unrestricted giving strategy.
  • Solicit and close gifts based on the assigned portfolio (and its risk assessment) and the assigned donor status. In collaboration with other members of University Advancement, this position will help to generate plan, and execute creative cultivation and engagement strategies for current-use, multi-year year gifts which may utilize blended gift strategies to enhance gift outcomes.
