The Skyhawk Advisor and Athletic Eligibility Coordinator will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Academic Advising: Provide student-centered academic counseling that aligns student-athlete academic progress and athletic success. Work with the Skyhawk Station team and closely with the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance as well as Academic Divisions to be trained in and share information that can impact a student’s academic options. Connect student to faculty and department to ensure that student-athlete is engaged in selected major, minor, and/or program, takes advantage of academic offerings, understands curricular requirements, and implements graduation map. Advising responsibilities include providing assistance during registration times for continuing students, building schedules for incoming students, and completing transfer registration appointments.
• NCAA Advising: Create and implement student academic plans that comply with NCAA Division II progress toward degree requirements. Meet with students weekly/bi-weekly/monthly or as designated to gather academic updates and follow up with academic success plans.
• Compliance: Monitor and evaluate the academic progress of all student-athletes to ensure compliance with the institutional, conference, and NCAA Division II progress toward degree requirements. Assist in providing documentation for any NCAA Division II progress toward degree waivers. Update the Degree Applicable tab in Compliance Assistant as needed at the beginning and end of every semester. Assist in completing required NCAA reports and other database updates in Compliance Assistant.
• Eligibility : Work cooperatively with the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance when working through eligibility concerns. Certify all eligibility at the end of each semester to determine the eligibility status of each student-athlete for the next semester and work directly with the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance based on results.
• Communication/Connection : Establish open communication with coaches, staff, and student-athletes with the goal of responding within 24-48 hours. Also, providing timely and proactive updates as needed. Meet with the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance regularly to provide updates on student-athletes. Collaborate with Athletics Faculty Success Coach on study hall and tutor opportunities on a continual basis. Facilitate and encourage communication with professors and contact the FAR when necessary.
• Transfer Student-Athletes : Prepare unofficial evaluations of potential transfer student-athletes and work with departments to obtain course equivalencies for domestic and international students. Provide academic advising transfer evaluation review.

• Produce and update a key contact list for each department to aid in recruiting and campus visits.

• Assisting with duties for either department as needed or requested. Including working with VA or other students.

• Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities

• Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility, including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508.

• Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree
• One or more years of work experience in secondary or post-secondary education
• Experience in admissions, academic advising, student success, athletics or other relevant positions
• Exceptional customer service skills, both in-person, over the phone, and via email
• Demonstrated ability to take direction and work in a fast-paced office
• Excellent computer and technology skills, including the ability to prepare and analyze spreadsheets, query databases, and learn new technologies quickly
• Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills, including attention to detail
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Exhibited ability to collaborate and work in a team setting
• Demonstrated motivation, professionalism, and strong work ethic
• Knowledge of NCAA Division II progress toward degree requirements
• Knowledge of institutional databases and systems
• Knowledge of Compliance Assistant
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $44,500 to $49,500 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
