The Athletics Social Media/Content Assistant is responsible for the creation and distribution of engaging social media content and creative direction, tracking issues and monitoring results. This role also requires the ability to report to work in-person on the Texas Southern campus and travel when necessary for away games and special events.

| Essential Duties Summary |
- Working closely with the Sports Information Director, the Athletics Social Media/Content Assistant will handle the day-to-day operation and management of the social media strategy for Texas Southern University Athletics’ social media platforms and creative content.
- They will also serve as the SID contact for an assigned sport(s) as determined by the Sports Information Director.
- The Athletics Social Media/Content Assistant will also set the strategy for and direct the creation of engaging and relevant content across all TSU Athletics flagship social media accounts, including Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Threads and other social media platforms.
- Collaborate with the university social media team to coordinate content and schedule cross-promotion of content when appropriate.
- Work closely with marketing, visual media, graphic design, brand engagement, and other staff on marketing campaigns, including efforts around fan engagement, brand awareness, advertising and more; manage relationships with outside partners.
- Assist with the TSU Athletics live stream (breakdown, setup) on a needed basis along with some writing duties for www.TSUSports.com.
- Stay abreast of emerging social media trends and platforms and make recommendations to leadership to adjust strategies and tactics as appropriate.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide range of audiences including faculty, students, leadership, staff, alumni, suppliers, fans, and agencies.
- Demonstrate understanding of the university’s mission, values, goals and priorities and an ability to ensure that all are considered in developing communications strategies.
- Assess, inventory, and track items/equipment needed to fulfill social media campaigns successfully.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and Sports Information Director. Consistent compliance with NCAAI, SWAC and TSU policies, rules, and regulations.

| Education |
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Sport Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field is recommended.

| Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
Knowledge of:

Skill in:
The selected candidate should also know how to work with CMS website maintenance along with knowing how to work in the Adobe Suite including PhotoShop, InDesign, Premiere, and Audition.
Ability to:
Work outside of normal business hours, including evenings/nights/weekends as needed for the completion of job responsibilities. Travel is a part of this position; this includes overnight stays depending on team and department needs.
