Summary:
Assure that athletic activities are conducted in accordance with the College National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) policies. Incorporates the philosophy of the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College curriculum into the philosophy and practice of the particular sport. This is a seasonal position during the sports season requiring weekend and evening work.
Coordinate and supervise all team practices, contests, and off-season programs
Recruit student athletes according to Admission Office procedures
Provide student-athletes the necessary time and resources to succeed academically
Responsible for the operation of the program within budget parameters and submits annual budget requests to the athletic director
Cooperate with other staff to ensure that the student athlete is provided with services to succeed academically and personally
Participate in activities that promote the development of the student athlete and the sport in the local community
Execute community service activities as required by NAIA Champions of Character
Maintain scholarship requirements based on SMWC and NAIA requirements
Follow rules set forth by the Athletic Code of Conduct, the NAIA and the River States Conference
Assist with field maintenance to ensure a quality playing surface and facility
Promote the sport on and off campus
Maintain good relationship with alums, parents, officials, volunteers and fans
Perform other duties as requested
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required from accredited college or university
Master’s degree preferred
3+ years of women's head softball coaching experience at USCAA, NAIA, NCAA institution
Knowledge of United States Collegiate Athletic Association and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics regulations or separate sport affiliation
Demonstrated abilities to work effectively in a small college setting and ability to balance student-athlete needs within a student development prospective
Physical Demand Characteristics:
Medium – Lift 20 lbs. – 50 lbs. occasionally; lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and 10 lbs. constantly. Walks and/or stands most of the day. Bends and stoops frequently. Reaches overhead and stoops frequently. May push/pull.
