Special Services Worker
The Special Services Worker reports to the Supervisor of Special Services and Life Safety Coordinator; and is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance duties, which support services provided by the Facilities Management. Specific responsibilities include operating power and hand tools such as drills, saws, grinders, high pressure washers; assembling and disassembling special set-up equipment such as staging, ramps, partitions and scaffolding; power washing exterior building surfaces, entrances, windows, sidewalls, and driveways; removing snow and ice from campus sidewalks and roadways using hand tools, snow plows, and snow blowers; moving office and classroom furnishings and supplies; utilizing dollies and pallet jacks; maintaining campus parking lots, traffic control, and building identification sign systems; and is responsible for general maintenance of all athletic facilities, as well as event setup and execution within the facilities. This includes maintenance of scoreboards, sound systems and lighting systems; set-up for events in facilities; providing the necessary operational requirements for the set-up and take down of furniture, fixtures and equipment for athletic events, community events, conferences, meetings, and other special activities; performing maintenance functions and repairs necessary to preserve the building structure systems and equipment; assisting in receiving incoming shipments, moving fixtures and furniture and participating in the campus recycling program; as well as assisting building maintenance personnel during construction renovation projects as needed.
High School Diploma or Educational equivalent; Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License; previous experience using power tools related to grounds, custodial, and building maintenance procedures; the ability to operate heavy equipment such as back-hoes, tractors, and dump trucks; the ability to read and understand work orders and other written communication; the ability to lift heavy loads and climb ladders to moderate heights and use man lifts; must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions; flexibility in responding to a wide variety of maintenance tasks; demonstrated effectiveness in dealing with diverse groups of people, co-workers and campus community.

Class B Commercial Driver’s license
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting (up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally), bending (frequently), pushing (frequently), pulling (frequently), stooping (frequently), carrying (frequently and up to 50 pounds), working in tight/cramped spaces, climbing stairs and ladders while carrying, and lifting overhead (occasionally and up to 40 pounds); exposure to disagreeable odors and environmental conditions; ability to see and read; ability to hear and speak in order to receive and convey instructions.
