Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the facilitation of practices, the choreography of routines, technique instruction, preparation for appearances and performance, cleaning routines, and attendance at practices, performances, designated university events, and athletic games as directed.

Assists head coach in the facilitation of practices. Contributing to a productive, safe, and fast paced practice environment in preparation for games, events, appearances, and competitions.
Attends events, appearances, and athletic games and assists Spirit Squad students before, during, and after events when assigned. Provides necessary information to Athletic game operations staff when requested/needed.
Assists in program functions by developing and sharing ideas for apparel/uniforms, collecting student information, coordinating practice schedules, and producing Spirit Squad related events and fundraisers.
Communicates regularly with department staff via phone, text, and/or email. Completes time sheets accurately, specifically, and promptly prior to payroll end. Adheres to campus policies, procedures, and department practices.
Minimum Qualifications
One or more years of experience in managing/instructing small groups.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop, and sustain relationships with others.
Ability to contribute to a collaborative environment as a team player.
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both orally and in writing.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, preferred. Minimum of 2 years of coaching/teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Project and program management skills including the development, implementation, management, and evaluation.
Licenses or Certifications:
USA Membership, Safety Certification, and Concussion Response Certification (will provided and pay for upon hiring).

Knowledge
Knowledge of current trends and technique related to percursion and cadence.
Knowledge of team organization, motivation, and mentorship.
Skills
Skilled in teaching students in a variety of methods, including demonstration and verbal direction.
Demonstrated skill set in interpersonal relationships and effective communication.
Consistent demonstration of professionalism in representing the Spirit Squad program, Drumline Team, and the University.
Skilled in the design and choreography of small and large group routines for games, events, appearances, and competition in addition to cleaning and adjusting routines as needed.
Abilities
Ability to teach using various styles and methodologies.
Ability to observe individual and team performance and provide constructive, respectful instruction for refinement.
Ability to communicate with those from diverse backgrounds and adjust instruction to meet the needs of individual members.
Ability to collaborate and communicate with others to provide a unified staffing team for program congruency.
Ability to foster a learning environment focused on student safety and well-being (physical, emotional, and mental).
