The University of Akron, a Division1 NCAA (FBS) program and member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) is seeking applicants for the position of Spirit Team Assistant Coach. This position will assist the spirit team head coach with administrative and instructional responsibilities.
Duties:
Assist Spirit Team Head Coach and Spirit Team Coordinator with all aspects of administering the spirit program. Assist with scheduling, fundraising, appearances, recruiting, selection process, travel and equipment needs.
Assist with preparation and management of home and away football games, home men’s and women’s basketball games and other events as requested.

cheerleading routines.
Requirements: Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree. Upon hire must complete AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches Certification and CPR certifications.
Experience: Requires up to 2 years collegiate cheerleading and/or dance team experience and/or up to 2 years of collegiate cheerleading and/or dance team coaching experience along with up to 2 years additional cheerleading and/or dance team experience (high school, all-star, judging, choreography etc.). Ability to work well with administrators, colleagues, coaches and students required. Ability to spot and teach both male and female tumblers with a range of abilities required. Experience teaching and spotting intermediate to advanced level tumbling skills required. Knowledge of cheerleading and/or dance team safety regulations, practice planning, game day preparation and management and community involvement required. Ability to engage athletes in safe and productive practice required. Ability to work in a fast paced and high stress environment required. 2 years of experience preferred.
