Sport Science is a division of Health & Performance, which also includes Strength & Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Sports Nutrition, Mental Health, and Mental Performance. The goal of Sport Science is to maximize student athlete health and performance through service, research, education, and innovation. The Sport Science intern will be assigned to the Health & Performance Team of one or more sports, where they will help fulfill daily responsibilities, short- and long-term projects for the assigned team/s depending on their educational degree program in exercise science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, pre-medicine, neuroscience, etc.

Learning objectives for the Sport Science Intern include, but are not limited to:

Establish a working philosophy for applied sports science in collegiate athletics.
Gain "on-the-job" experience working in an integrated health and performance team alongside strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, sports dietitians, mental health, and mental performance professionals.
Develop greater proficiency using applicable sport science software and hardware technologies.
Enhance skill with each step of the scientific method (asking questions, conducting background research, designing protocols, collecting and analyzing data, communicating results, and translating findings into practice).
Expand professional network to facilitate recommendations for future employment.
Acquire practicum hours toward the Certified Professional Sport Scientist (CPSS).
