Job Description
Provide data-informed recommendations to Sport Performance professionals and Sport Coaches, grounded in best practices and current research, in support of the elite development and well-being of Buckeye student-athletes. This will occur by remaining current in performance and wellness literature; and require a forward-facing approach, committed to elite communication with coaches, staff, and athletes. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations of our sport performance department, The Ohio State Athletic Department policies, the university, Big 10 Conference, and the NCAA. Foster an environment that is committed to the principles of ethical conduct, integrity, and excellence. Will be measured on the execution of these responsibilities.
Administers and/or oversee high-quality data collection for assigned teams using respective performance and wellness technologies. Administers and/or oversees all roster updates and assignments for assigned teams. Administers and/or oversees all weight room technology testing for assigned teams. Administers and/or oversees all technological problem-solving for assigned teams. Perform necessary analysis on collected data, visualize and report for assigned teams. Provide recommendations to High Performance Team (HPT) members and/or Sport Coaches based on data collected, both in testing and training, to best inform training decisions at the all levels of periodization. Attends Athletic Performance Team (APT) and HPT meetings as requested. Research and report special and general performance science topics, providing insights and opportunities for assigned teams. Develops strong bonds with the student-athletes, sport coaches & support staff.
Collect input from teammates and stakeholders to inform plans for the development of Microsoft Fabric for Ohio State Athletics, and contribute to code that supports different parts of the extract, transform, load pipeline. Conduct exploratory and descriptive analysis of athlete performance and health datasets to identify trends, highlight outliers, and generate actionable insights for coaches and staff. Provide insights on final visualization products, and co-manage roles and permissions, ensuring overall efficient work and data flows. Communicate regularly with Ohio State Athletics Information Technology team to ensure compliance and security of Microsoft Fabric products. Contribute to the development of intentional, narrow-scope research questions, and conduct literature reviews on topics relevant to the athletics department. Oversee the development of infographics, one-pagers, webinars, and presentations that distill complex scientific findings into actionable advice for diverse audiences, including sports practitioners and athletes. Lead the student athlete Performance Education initiative, ensuring implementation of relevant team talks. Collaborate with Associate and Assistant Sport Scientists in support of needs for all teams. Assists Director for Sport Performance with additional department-wide operational solutions as assigned. Stays up to date on current publications, and networks with field experts to create relationships within Sport Science and grow knowledge. Regularly contribute to Performance Education (PE) initiative, often leading sessions. Contribute to education and mentorship of Sport Science Interns ranging topics of physiology to coding. Creates a collaborative and creative team environment where change is embraced, and innovation is encouraged. Additional responsibilities as assigned throughout the year.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.

The Ohio State University Department of Athletics is seeking a Sport Science Analyst to join our Sport Science team in support of the development, health, and well-being of Buckeye student-athletes. This position will play a critical role in collecting, analyzing, and reporting athlete performance and wellness data for assigned teams, while providing actionable insights to coaches, staff, and student-athletes. The analyst will contribute to the implementation and maintenance of sport performance technologies, co-manage the departmental data infrastructure through Microsoft Fabric, and ensure accurate, efficient, and secure data pipelines and visualizations. A successful candidate will translate complex scientific findings into practical strategies, create educational resources, and contribute to the department’s Performance Education initiatives. The role requires strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work across diverse teams including coaches, support staff, IT professionals, and student-athletes. In addition, the analyst will stay current on sport science research, foster innovation, and help advance best practices in athlete monitoring, training, and recovery. This position is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and excellence within Ohio State Athletics, the Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA.
