University of Oklahoma Athletics is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking individual to fill the position of Sport Science Specialist. The purpose of the position is to establish and manage data systems to process, review, and report an analysis of the metrics associated with optimal performance and recovery for Oklahoma student-athletes.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with the construction and application of all assessment protocols
• Collect, organize, review, and monitor data trends on sport science initiatives and recovery
• Engineer calculations and measurements for guided data interpretation
• Oversee all back-end data processes including storage, cleaning, filtering, visualizing, and reporting
• Develop and expand front-end data presentation through visual reports and dashboards
• Provide individualized insights to assist in student-athlete development and performance monitoring
• Provide sport coaches and performance staff members scientific insight into the decision-making process
• Collaborate with a multi-discipline performance team to ensure best practices within the integration of strength & conditioning, athletic medicine, sports nutrition, and PROS
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the sports science department
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Sports Science or Assistant Director of Sports Science
• Attend weekly multidiscipline performance team meetings
• Attend staff/sport specific meetings, as necessary
• Assist in tailoring training programs to achieve individual student-athletes or team needs
• Assist in regular monitoring of programming, training, and recovery throughout the season
• Assist in oversight and management of the Elite Recovery area

Job Requirements

---

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Neuroscience, Data Analytics or related field from an accredited college or university; AND

• 24 months of experience working with an NCAA institution or professional sports team, and athlete load monitoring in an applied sports setting.
  

Equivalency/Substitution : Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of experience.

Skills:

• Remain up to date with the latest technology and best practices for preparation and recovery
• Remain proficient in demonstration of data analytics and assessment tools
• Proficient in communicating verbally and in writing
• Proficient in communicating with a diverse group, using tact and diplomacy
• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
• Willing and able to maintain confidentiality and to assume responsibility for information disseminated
• Willing and able to follow established institutional, conference, and NCAA policies and procedures

Working Conditions:

• Ability to engage in repetitive motions and communicate effectively
• Exposure to extreme temperature changes. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including in the heat and cold

Certifications or Licenses: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) certification.

Positions Directly Supervised: Graduate Assistant and Undergraduate Students

Department Preferences:

• Preference of a degree in Health and Exercise Science and/or comparable science degree program which include courses such as analytics, biology, biomechanics, chemistry, health promotion, and statistics
• Maintain current CPR/AED certification
• Familiarity and compliance with NCAA Bylaws, HIPAA, and FERPA
• Knowledge of rules and regulations of the current athletic conference
• Certifications: CPR, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, AED, AFAA, NASM, CPT, PT, CES
