Position Overview

Rider University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) invites applications for a Sports Communications Assistant. Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Communications, this individual will support the strategic promotion of Rider University Athletics by managing media relations, digital content, and statistical coverage for 21 NCAA Division I athletics programs. This position plays a key role in maintaining the athletics website, producing engaging multimedia content, and ensuring accurate, timely dissemination of information across all platforms.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least two years of sports communications experience at a college or university or other athletics entity (either PT, FT or graduate assistant).
• Must possess working knowledge of and a willingness to comply with NCAA and conference rules.
• Good written and oral communications skills
• Experience with website content management system software and various statistics software.

• Knowledge of trends in sports communications and technology.
• Knowledge of the rules of many different sports.
• Experience with computers, graphic design and video editing software, and social media.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Must be willing to work some nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours.
• Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Master's degree preferred.
• Three to five years of sports communications experience at a college or university or other athletics entity.
