Job Description:
The Sports Information Assistant will contribute to the day-to-day operations of the Sports Information Department and plays a crucial supervisory role over the Sea Gull Sports Network. This position will assist in scheduling and assigning in-game student staff and broadcast personnel for 150+ live athletics events hosted at SU. The incumbent will be the primary contact for social media accounts, graphics and graphic design and other external communication.
This position will oversee the collection and reporting of statistical information for their assigned sports, and is responsible for weekly and annual nominations for conference and national awards for student-athletes and coaches.
The Sports Information Assistant will work closely with coaches, administration and game day staff to ensure a detailed and organized game day. The Sports Information Assistant is responsible for other essential in-game duties such as, but not limited to clock operations, PA announcement, broadcast play-by-play, social media updates, score reporting, photography, and videography.
The incumbent will be responsible for operation and inventory of technology and equipment related to the Sports Information Department.
Authority and Accountability
This position reports to the Assistant Athletics Director for Communication and Sports Information.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
1-3 years, some specialized skills. Knowledge of StatCrew, NCAA LiveStats, other relevant statistics-keeping software. Knowledge of specialized equipment required for live broadcasts. Experience with Daktronics scoreboards and videoboards and other related technology.
Preferred Qualifications
2-3 years of experience in sports information or athletic communications. Relevant experience in technology related to statistics and network/broadcasting of sporting events.
Additional Job Information:
The position is a Contingent II, full-time, non-exempt position.
