• Job Duties

• Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Sports information operations.
  • Serve as the sports information publicity contact for assigned sports.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and cataloguing for all statistics, records, and general information relating to assigned sports.
  • Create content and oversee use of the video board in Fitzpatrick arena.
  • Create promotional videos as needed for the department and specific sports.
  • Assist with creating graphics and marketing material for the department.
  • Produce postgame recaps and press releases.
  • Write stories highlighting student-athletes and athletics staff.
  • Game day sports information.
  • Assist in the oversight of announcers for soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball for the CCAA Network.
  • Serve as the official scorer of NCAA Division II collegiate athletic contests as assigned.
  • Prepare gameday scripts.
  • Ability to do live stats via approved NCAA software for all sponsored sports.
  • Sports information planning.
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Sports Information Officer to identify and produce accurate and timely sports information communications for an NCAA Division II athletics program.
  • Research and stay current on conference, state and national sport trends. Oversee the production and use of the CCAA Network for Warrior Athletics.
  • Maintain awareness of NCAA and CCAA rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
  • Update WarriorAthletics.com as necessary following contests of assigned sports.
  • Develop ways to integrate corporate sponsorships into the gameday experience through digital and video means.
  • Event support and community relations.
  • Work with coaches to provide event planning assistance to team for fundraising and community relation events (e.g. Crab Feed, Golf Tournament, and Love Turlock).
  • Other duties as assigned.

• Minimum Qualifications

• Experience: Up to two years of related professional or technical experience. In addition, must have strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, and the composition of various communication vehicles.

• Preferred Qualifications

• • Experience working in a university setting.
  • Experience in Drupal website editing and or knowledge and experience of web design software.
  • Ability to use social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and LinkedIn.
  • Bilingual in English-Spanish.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications, basic photo‐editing and video‐editing software, and internet browsers.
  • Experience with Photoshop and InDesign.

• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• • Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, practices, principles and techniques related to communications in the public affairs, media, marketing, and/or sports information areas.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to use effectively media outlets including planning media coverage and media publicity campaigns for the university and events.
  • Ability to build and manage more sophisticated media contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of campus events and subject matter expertise in relation to current events to identify and capitalize on media opportunities that will promote the university and increase positive media coverage.
  • Working knowledge of copyright and other applicable laws pertaining to publications and the media.
  • Thorough knowledge of web communication techniques, vehicles and formats. Ability to effectively use web technology to achieve communication goals.
  • Ability to analyze and select pertinent facts and integrate them into communication vehicles.
  • Strong story development and journalistic writing skills, as well as advanced editorial skills.
  • Knowledge of interview techniques and the ability to define and deliver media messages.
  • Working knowledge of marketing and research techniques and methods. Ability to apply market research to identify communication needs and target audiences.
  • Ability to apply appropriate statistical techniques and methods to research or sports information.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong public speaking, listening and interpretive skills.
  • Ability to provide lead work direction.

• Salary Range

• Anticipated salary will be $3,761 – $4,137 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. (Full Public Affairs/Communications Specialist II range: $3,761 - $6,803.per month)
