Job Summary

Sports Information at OPSU is a multi-dimensional function that includes the maintaining of sound relationships with the media, the OPSU athletic staff, the OPSU administration, fellow student workers, the Sooner Conference, and the NAIA. The Sports Information Director is responsible for keeping updated stats for various sports programs and design and layout of the media guides throughout the year

Responsibilities

• Write and distribute press releases.
• Manage the sports information office, assistant SID and student staff.
• Prepare game notes/programs.
• Coordinate development of team media guides.
• Take/coordinate team photos.
• Help coordinate and supervise video stream of home contests.
• Manage social media outlets associated with athletics.
• Manage/coordinate game-day statistics responsibilities and media credentialing for home events.
• Maintain statistical information required by conference and NAIA.
• Prepare/submit nominations for conference and national awards.
• Update the athletics webpage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare game notes/programs.

• Take/coordinate team photos.
• Help coordinate and supervise video stream of home contests.
• Manage social media outlets associated with athletics.
• Manage/coordinate game-day statistics responsibilities and media credentialing for home events.
• Maintain statistical information required by conference and NAIA.
• Prepare/submit nominations for conference and national awards.
• Update the athletics webpage.
• Coordinate with Cheer coach, Band and Student Activities for game day activities.
• Oversee the gameday management of multiple athletic facilities.
• Act as the game/event manager for all home contests and any outside, special, or contracted events.
• Coordinate with other members of the athletic department, campus community, and local agencies that may be involved with a game or event, including assisting with sponsorship sales.
• Assist with booking special and contracted events that take place in OPSU athletic facilities.
• Order all food and drink items in concession stands for team stocking.
• Oversee conduct in competition as regulated by the NAIA.
• Complete game-day responsibility checklists and distribute to appropriate parties.
• Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
• Ability to work various hours, including nights and weekends throughout the year for practice, games and recruiting.
• Be able to transport team to the contests, and be responsible for their well-being.
• Could be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
• Other duties as assigned by the assistant director or his/her designee.

Qualifications

• Education, Training, and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required.
• Knowledge of athletic contests
• Sponsorship and/or advertising sales experience.
